Nik is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a native of Honolulu, Hawai‘i. He began his BJJ journey in 2009 while studying at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. After moving to Minnesota for graduate school, he joined Southside BJJ as a purple belt in 2017. In 2023, he was awarded his black belt by Enrique Muniz, Adrian Ricci, and Edmund Li (Sapateiro BJJ).

 

Nik brings a wealth of life experience and deep technical knowledge to the mats. He connects easily with students of all backgrounds—from young professionals just starting out to longtime practitioners returning to the sport. He has a passion for teaching strong fundamentals and helping students understand the why behind each technique. Known for his thoughtful coaching style, Nik encourages both precision and creativity in his students’ games.
